Dell Axim X50v price dropped to its lowest so far

July 31, 2005

Saw this on Dell’s Online Site:

1

The price is quite tempting for this feature-packed Pocket PC PDA. This Dell Axim x50v has a VGA screen, 624Mhz processor, wifi, Bluetooth and etc…for only RM1470?

Is this a sign of a new Dell Axim Pocket PC model coming soon? I heard the Dell Axim x70 is probably the next model. Probably with the latest Windows Mobile 5 as it’s operating system? Lots of speculation at the moment… Wondering if I should get this to replace my trusty Ipaq H4150. This Axim x50v is way better.. Hmm…

Checked the price in Dell UK and found out it’s much more expensive (as expected).

Review:
From The Gadgeteer:

Pros:
3D Graphics accelerator chip
Comfortable in hand
WiFi & Bluetooth
Dual memory card slots

Cons:
Brief battery life
Different serial connector on this model means incompatibility with older cables
Buttons on left side are easily activated

  1. hey, I used to have a 4150 too, before it was stolen. Now, I’m eyeing on O2 Mini. I should get a PDA Phone so that it will always be with me where ever I go. No need to carry 2 gadgets at one time. But this price is really sweet, I wonder how good it is. I’ve been a loyal HP Pda user after all this while. At the ads, it says “the power to be mobile, communicate…”, does that means this thing can be a phone too (pda phone)?

  2. Axim X50v is only a PDA, not a PDA+Phone combo. If it is, it wont be this cheap..^_^. The HP PDA+Phone combo really looks good (forgot which model was it) but it’s too expensive.

I agree with you that it’s much more convenient than having to bring 2 gadgets at one time (like my case now, I seldom bring my pda with my mobile phone). But there are pros and cons in both cases… Really depends on whether you can cope with the cons. As for me, I definitely have to stick with phone and pda as separate gadgets due to the lack of fund. LOL..
